Strawberry Shortcake

6 cups of sliced strawberries.
2 cups of flour.
¾ cup of semi-skimmed milk.
½ cup of sugar.
½ cup of margarine.
2 teaspoons of baking powder.
1 medium egg, beaten.
Whipped cream.
Stir together the sliced strawberries and half of the sugar; then set aside.

Mix together the remaining sugar, flour and baking powder.

Cut in the margarine until the mixture looks like crumbs.

Combine the egg and milk; then add to the dry ingredients.

Stir until just moistened.

Spoon into a suitably sized baking pan.

Bake at 425F for 20 minutes.

Allow to cool in the pan for ten 10 minutes.

Remove from pan and split into two layers.

Spoon the strawberries and whipped cream between the two layers and over the top.

Serve.
